AS Business Studies Course Plan Unit Title: BUSS2 Managing a Business In the study of this unit, students should examine the topic areas below in relation to the core theme of improving the effectiveness of a business. Candidates should be able to calculate and be able to interpret data measuring the effectiveness of the business. These measurements should include: profitability, labour productivity, labour turnover, unit costs and market share. AS BUSINESS STUDIES (BUSS 2: Managing a Business) This module is divided into four elements. In the study of this unit candidates should examine the topic areas below in relation to the core themes of finance, people in business, operations management, marketing and the competitive environment. The material below sets out a possible scheme of work for a single teacher delivering the specification. Assessment for this unit is by examination – 1 hr 30 minutes in June, with a re-sit opportunity in January of the next academic year. Learning Outcomes There will be an emphasis upon the development of the skills of knowledge, applied analysis applied evaluation and that learners develop a structured approach in this regard. The BUSS2 examination consists of two case studies with 4 questions on each totalling 80 marks.
